It's tough to pen down my thoughts after the Delhi Daredevils game. It was a mixed day where I could be satisfied with my performance and disappointed over the defeat. I'll pick the disappointment of losing the game over my all-round effort, as I believe individual effort isn't of worth if it doesn't translate into the team's success. Our home run of three games at the DY Patil Stadium ends on a sour note, and I have to say we didn't play well during the key moments of the match.
Kudos to Delhi
Credit goes to the Delhi Daredevils, who came back strongly to record their first win this season. The second week of the IPL has been a week of comebacks where teams like Kochi and Delhi have come back strongly to make a statement. Delhi were under pressure as they were chasing more than nine from the very first ball. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, the batsmen kept getting those small vital partnerships with the desired run rate and that was a key difference. Apart from Jesse Ryder and me, none of the other members were able to deliver with the bat. But if someone had given me 187 to defend at the start, I would have taken it.
Sehwag factor
After doing well in the first two games, this was a wake-up call for our bowlers. But you can't do much when batsmen like David Warner and Virender Sehwag are after you. I'm disappointed that even after getting rid of them we couldn't save the game. We've got our cue and the next stop is Wankhede with Sachin Tendulkar's Mumbai Indians.
Fond memories
The mere thought of Wankhede makes me travel back in the time when I lifted the magnificent World Cup trophy a few weeks back. The only issue is that some of the architects of that victory are in the rival dressing room.
All I can wish is for Sachin to have a day off with the bat. He is scoring heavily and deservingly too. The Mumbai Indians are one of the strongest sides and playing against them will be a true test of our character.
Praying for Arunima
Apart from the IPL, one thing which disturbed me was the unfortunate incident involving volleyball player Arunima Sinha. What happened to her is tragic. I have offered help and if I can be of some assistance to her in the future, I would be happy to do so. Just like cricket, life is harsh and throws big challenges at you. My prayers are with her and I'm sure she will bounce back.
