A 4-year-old New Mexico boy who went missing on Saturday fell into a 30-foot-deep hole and died, authorities believe.
Police on Sunday located the body of a boy believed to be Samuel Jones, although they have yet to confirm the identity of the child.
"We have reports of one missing child, and this child is right next door to the missing child's house," Carlsbad police spokeswoman Lt. Jennifer Moyers told FOXNews.com.
Jones was reported missing at 5:10 p.m. on Saturday. An Amber Alert was issued, and more than 150 Carlsbad residents helped in the search, according to reports.
A detective located the child's body Sunday morning, according to FOXNews.com. Authorities sent a camera down the hole and confirmed a child was about 30 feet down.
"The conditions are not favorable, not survivable," Moyers told FOXNews.com.
The police believe the boy's death was a tragic accident. It's possible young Samuel could have climbed a 4-foot chain-link fence and fallen into the deep well on the neighbor's property, Moyers told FOXNews.
There is no evidence of foul play, Moyers said.
