Crime outsourced, high performance delivered

ALLAHABAD: Criminals in the city have taken a more professional and technically sound approach to carry out their nefarious designs. And if polices sources are to be believed, then local gangsters are outsourcing their jobs to criminal gangs from neighbouring states of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.

Outsourcing criminal activities help the local law breakers conceal their identity, and mislead the police.

Theses startling facts came to fore when police worked out Rs 26 lakh loot case that rocked Pratapgarh district a couple of days back. While cracking the robbery case, police claimed that a Pratapgarh-based criminal had outsourced robbery to professional gangs from Chapra, Vaishali and Patna districts of Bihar, on a profit sharing basis.

Inspector general of police, Allahabad range, RP Singh told TOI that it was Amar Singh alias Dhunni, a local criminal who had approached criminals based in Bihar to execute a major robbery in Pratapgarh on a profit share basis.

"Under the plan, Amar Singh had himself carried out recee of the area and gullible victim and then called up five Bihar-based notorious robbers to execute the crime. After finalising a particular date, the professional criminals from Bihar arrived in Pratapgarh and looted Rs 26 lakh cash from an employee of an auto firm after injuring him," said IG Singh.

Later, the local criminal got Rs 8 lakh of his share and rest of the looted amount was taken by the Bihar-based criminals, the police official said.

Interestingly, the Bihar-based criminals while escaping from the site of crime, confirmed about the local criminal's address from many people of the area, which raised suspicion and doubts among the villagers. Police were successful in nabbing Amar Singh, when he was at his house a day after the incident.

Superintendent of police, Pratapgarh, Rakesh Pradhan, when contacted said, "The Bihar-based criminal after executing the crime, was searching for Amar Singh (a resident of Pendua village) and they had asked many people about the address of the local criminal."

"When Pratapgarh police nabbed Amar Singh, he revealed that he had met the Bihar-based criminals in Delhi, where he was working as a painter. He also admitted to have done recee and informed the Bihar-based criminals about the topography and sequence for executing the crime, Pradhan said.

Surprisingly, Allahabad police while investigating the Allhapur ATM stealing case, have established that a professional gang from neighbouring state had probably executed the crime. A local criminal had passed all inputs.

The IG added that efforts are underway to strengthen the intelligence network.

As far as Civil Lines diamond merchant murder-cum-loot case is concerned, the police suspect the role of a neighbouring state criminal gang, assisted by a local gang in executing the crime.

Police sources said that they have received certain inputs that the gangs from the neighbouring states come by their SUVs and return to their hometowns on the same date, so that they do not come under the scanner.
