Ashburton Racing Club Race Meeting

Head to the Ashburton Racecourse for an action packed day of horse racing.
day at the races is a classic Kiwi day out — the excitement of thoroughbred horse racing plus a great opportunity to meet, mingle and place your bets with the locals. Pack a picnic or take advantage of an excellent range of food and drink available for purchase at the track, as well as the outstanding Ashburton hospitality.
The day's feature races will be the $45,000 Ray Coupland Stakes for three year-old horses — a Listed race over 1400m and the $12,000 Ashburton Trust Cup — an open handicap race over 1200m.
The Ashburton Racing Club was established in 1878 and races four times a year at Ashburton racecourse.
A short drive from Christchurch, Ashburton is the gateway to some of Canterbury and the South Island's best attractions and activities — from fly fishing in the Rakaia River, to hot air ballooning over the Canterbury Plains and skiing at Mt Hutt.
