Plains Railway & Museum 40th Anniversary Open Weekend

Come along and help us celebrate 40 years of preserving Mid-Canterbury's past.
Our steam locos A 64 (which was the loco that started it for us), K 88 the first American loco in New Zealand, and Ja 1260 one of the last steam locos to be built in New Zealand and weighing in at nearly 110 tons will all be in steam on Sunday the 23rd. Also our 1939 diesel Vulcan Railcar RM 50 will be running as well. Take a trip up part of the old Mt Somers Branchline, or just wander around our village and look at our display of vintage machinery.
Cold drinks, ice creams, books, DVDs and souvenirs for sale in our shop in the railway station.
