Waukesha County hopes to finish court recount soon

MADISON, Wis. - Waukesha County officials say they're moving faster now and should be able to complete their share of the state Supreme Court recount days ahead of schedule.
Wisconsin counties had until May 9 to finish their recounts. Waukesha County was the only one that couldn't meet the deadline. Dane County Circuit Judge Richard Niess last week gave the county until May 26 to finish.
During an update on the county's progress Friday, county attorney Tom Farley told the judge they've moved the recount into a larger room and have more tabulators working 10- to 12-hour days. He says they should be about 65 percent done by the end of the day Friday.
They expect to finish next week or early in the following week, days ahead of the May 26 deadline.
