NPP Primaries: Ketu North And Techiman North Constituencies Acclamation Disrupted

Information reaching Peacefmonline.com indicates that the acclamation process at the Ketu North Constituency in the Volta and Techiman North in the Brong Ahafo region have been disrupted by some angry youth.

The sole candidate, Mr Pius Enam Hadzide's was marred by some machomen. Mr Hadzi confirmed the incident to peacefmonline.com but said he will go ahead to hold himself as the elected candidate for the area.

The angry youth believed to be supporters of the former candidate in the 2008 election in the Ketu North constituency stormed the centre where the acclamation was to be held and vandalized the place, causing the delegates and the party executives to run for dear lives.

Reports gathered say the irate youth claim there is some form of discrimination against their candidate, the former Regional Minister, Samuel Kofi Dzamesi who interestingly did not contest. They accused the party executives of instigating the decision of their candidate not to contest, an allegation which the constituency secretary strenuously denies.

The youth are said to have attacked the constituency treasurer and made away with some monies which was meant for the transportation of the delegates. The acclamation process has therefore been brought to a halt in the Ketu North constituency.

In Techiman North, where incumbent Hon. Ameyaw Akumfi run unopposed, the acclamation process has also been brought to a standstill due to the action of some disgruntled youth in the area.
