Interior Minister Tours Ashanti Region

The Minister for the Interior, Dr. Benjamin Kunbuor, arrives in Kumasi next Monday, to begin an official working visit of the Ashanti Region.

He will call on the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Kwaku Agyemang- Mensah in his office at the start of the visit.

Thereafter, the Interior Minister is also expected to pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace.

This was in a statement copied to the Information Services Department by the Public affairs Director of the Ministry of Interior, Mr. Kodjo Dabri, yesterday in Accra.

On the same day, Dr. Kunbour will address a meeting of the Regional Security Council, and he is expected to be briefed on the security situation in the region.

The statement said he will then embark on a tour of the regional head offices of the security agencies in Kumasi, namely the Ghana Police, Fire Service, Prisons Service and the Immigration Service to have first-hand interaction with personnel of the security agencies.

Dr. Kunbuor will end his tour of Kumasi by visiting the offices of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).

The next day of the working tour, the Interior Minister will visit the towns of Obuasi and Ejura respectively.

He will call on the municipal and district chief executives of Obuasi and Ejura in their respective offices. Dr. Kunbuor will then preside over separate meetings of the security councils in the two districts.

He will also tour the offices of the security agencies in the two towns and interact with personnel to acquaint himself with their operational duties and challenges. At Ejura, he will pay a courtesy call on the Ejurahene.

Dr. Kunbuor ends his tour of the Ashanti Region on Thursday, and returns to Accra on the same day.
