Jacqueline McFadyen's husband Jordan leapt to his feet to whoop out his delight when she was named as the supreme winner.
"Very proud, he was," event convenor Diane Barley said yesterday.
The annual parade of brides and their entourages at the Quality Hotel Plymouth International in New Plymouth made for a very colourful night, she said.
"It was an absolutely beautiful night. The entrants came up later and said how much they loved it."
A total of 23 brides took the opportunity to don their wedding garb for a second time.
They were accompanied by 11 bridesmaids, a junior bridesmaid and pageboy, and four mothers of the bride or groom. Six brides were accompanied by their grooms.
The brides weren't the only ones on display. Dancers from the Gilbert-Smith Dance Trust also put on a show for the crowd. The night doubles as the trust's annual fundraiser.
Heemi Hill has now compered 23 of the 24 shows that have been staged. The former Taranaki radio host now lives in Auckland.
"He's very professional and absolutely fantastic," Ms Barley said.
