Earthlink , the popular ISP based in Atlanta, offers a variety of Internet access plans – from dialup to high speed cable; and a majority of these come with eight email address. Once set up, the Earthlink email accounts can be accessed via the webmail interface using just the browser program. This means you can get to your inbox from any computer in any part of the world via the Earthlink webmail interface!

Logging in at Earthlink webmail – webmail.earthlink.net

The web-based interface is accessed via the Earthlink login page. Point your browser to webmail.earthlink.net (click that link) and sign in by providing your email address and the account password. On successful login, you shall be shown Earthlink’s webmail through which you can compose and send messages and manage your email account.

Note for the newbie: Do not check “Remember my login on this computer” if you are accessing your Earthlink account from public machines like those in a library or an Internet cafe.

Features of the Earthlink webmail interface

The intuitively designed Earthlink’s webmail works on all popular web browsers. The layout is simple and uncluttered making it easy for the beginner to understand and work with the email account.

The interface is divided into several panes. The folders pane on the left is the long vertical column that has the list of default folders as well as those you have created to further segregate messages. The large column on the right shows the list of emails at the top and the contents of the selected message in a “preview” pane.

Each email account comes with standard “Inbox“, “Sent“, “Trash“, “Drafts” folders. Through the Earthlink webmail interface you can create additional folders which will be listed below the default ones. This helps customizing the email account and having messages organized as per requirements.

The Earthlink webmail toolbar, as I like to call it, gives you immediate access to common tasks: Reply, Reply all, Forward, Print, Delete, Move (to a specified folder), mark as Spam etc.
