Any bright ideas?

THE search for Wellington’s brightest ideas has begun with the launch of the 2011 Bright Ideas Challenge.
Nigel Kirkpatrick, chief executive of Grow Wellington, the organisation behind the challenge, says up for grabs is the chance to win $25,000 start-up capital and support to help take an idea to the next level and turn it into a commercial success.
“We’re interested in innovative ideas at all stages of their development,” Kirkpatrick says. “It could be something from a student in a research or learning institution or even an idea from within an existing business.  It could be something you’ve been working on for a while or something you’ve just dreamed up.”
Last year the Wellington business community provided $500,000 worth of support and advice to Bright Ideas entrants.
“There’s a thriving community in the Wellington region that are connected, committed and ready to help Kiwi entrepreneurs take good ideas and turn them into great businesses,” Kirkpatrick says.
To enter the Bright Ideas Challenge contestants should write in no more than 100 words what their idea is and send it Grow Wellington before June 26.
